What's in a name? What's behind the name of HollyStar Designs? I have started many blogs about many things; personal, scrapbooking, unemployment journal, just to name a few. Sometimes I have gotten frustrated with the fact that my computer doesn't always recognize the blogger site and move somewhere else. Blogs for me in the past have always been as random as my mind. Of course I hate to keep bringing this up, but unemployment has me with a lot of time on my hands, but I just cannot seem to focus on one thing; what do I wanna be when I grow up?
However, the one reoccurring theme that I seem to have come up time and time again is that fact that I am so crafty with scrapbooking, with creating a beautiful home, with entertaining my friends and family. I have so many people in my circle ask why I didn't go into home interior design, or some type of field like that. So one morning as I sat on my front porch under my big red umbrella protected from the morning sun, I began to think that perhaps I could start fresh in the blogging world and come up with something that would be uniquely me, but perhaps encompass all the things that I am really good at.
The nice thing about a blog is that it doesn't always have to be single minded and designs can come from everything from making something from scratch, or just putting your own spin on something that's already out there. My Mom is always a good cheerleader and has been trying to get me to focus on the things that I really love for months now in hopes that I will finally find something that will make me happy and possibly make money at. The hard part is coming up with the unique idea that someone somewhere would want to actually pay me money to do. Of course her theory is that everything that's out there for sale isn't necessarily a unique idea, but the spin on it is what makes it unique and marketable. However, with no clear path in mind I sat and played with the idea of a new blog that would help encompass all of my thoughts and ideas into one place.
I found a website that helps develop business names. So I plugged in my name and a few key words and after much thought and ideas that showed up I picked HollyStar Designs. I thought at the time that it was kind of a cute spin on Hollister, which is a clothing label here in California. I still keep running the name through my head comparing it to the name that I picked and some days it seems similar, and other days it doesn't. I'm still not very convinced it's the be all and end all of names if I was to ever market anything, but for now it's a start.
While I may not be making anything unique and selling it right now my blog is definitely a showcase for everything that I personally design whether it be a scrapbook page, holiday decorating, home decorating, or party planning. I take ideas that I see and adapt them to my life style and budget and than put it out there in cyber space hoping that other people see that just because it looks expensive, it doesn't have to be. It's also my personal journey of finding my niche in life, but also knowing that I am the star in my own life and I want to shine as brightly as I can. After all we only have one life to live I want to make it the best I can with who I am and what I have. So here I am designing my life the way I want it to be. Therefore HollyStar Designs is born.
Where it will take me, where this may lead, I have no idea, but I am hoping that eventually things will come together and I will finally find a focus that makes me happy with whatever path I choose for my future.
Here to show you how you can create everyday things from home decor to scrapbooking projects beautifully and on a budget.
